K.Annamalai, former Tamail Nadu BJP president resigned from the BJP

A former IPS officer-turned-politician has resigned from the BJP, and BJP President Nitin Nabin has accepted his resignation.

Annamalai stated on Thursday that he would interact with the public on social media on Friday afternoon to share his views and engage in an “open, heart-to-heart conversation.” He expressed his eagerness to interact with the people.
On Tuesday, Annamalai met with Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National General Secretary Nitin Nabin, and senior leader BL Santhosh. When asked about circulating rumors that he planned to leave the party to launch a new political outfit, he said, “Please wait. We will sit down and talk in two days.”
His remarks come amidst intense speculation on social media regarding his next political move. Ahead of his birthday on June 4, posters bearing slogans such as “Our leader, come and lead us” have been put up across the major roads and streets of Coimbatore.
He may clarify the reasons behind his resignation during his visit to the national capital. Annamalai has been reportedly ‘unhappy’ since Nainar Nagendran was tipped to replace him and the party moved to revive its electoral alliance with the AIADMK for the 2026 Assembly elections.
